The Kurent Jump, on Friday, February 21, 2020 will kick off the awakening of the Kurents for Kurentovanje weekend! In keeping with the cold weather spirit, this event will be held outdoors in the courtyard of the Slovenian National Home (6417 St. Clair Ave)! Free Parking is available behind Slovenian National Home.
This is a 21+ Adults Only event. Doors open at 5:30PM. Get ready to jam with the Chardon Polka Band from 6 to 9 PM in our heated tents where you can dance or sit and gather with friends! We'll have food and beverages available for purchase! Tavcar's catering will be making Golaž (goulash) as well as a vegan soup! There will also be sausage sandwiches! YUM! We'll have desserts and other treats to keep you nice and warm! Alcohol sales permitted only to those 21 and up with valid ID. Be sure to stick around to see the Kurents awaken from their slumber around 8PM!
Kurent Jump is traditionally the first time that the Kurents appear in public, with their bells loudly ringing as they dance around a bonfire, initiating the Kurents' mission of chasing winter to make way for spring. The Kurent Jump is a phenomenon that has emerged in recent times in Slovenia, and this is the fifth year we will hold this event in Cleveland.
